A Big Buncha Bullies

In remembrance of my father, David William Roberts. He didn't take shit from anybody. Thanks for having my back, daddy.

The Last Plane

I've got a thousand songs from the old days. I'm starting to think they might be all I have. So, here's another from the vault. This was a Post-K NOLA song that was directed at no one other than the the lost loves of us all. We all felt your pain.

TRUDGING ALONG (With words to follow)

Here's a poem I wrote in New Orleans right after Hurricane Katrina. Enjoy.

Trudging along
a crumpled page
in my life
revisiting mold
and slimy things
that have dried up

Inhaling dust
from old books
I've never read
but always planned to,
I walk alone seeking
your hand

Reflections of ghosts
above me
through coffee cups
they swirl in steam
towards my eyes

When my levees are breeched
I will stay
on the couch
smiling for you
my lovely friend.

If to love
and be loved
is to feel the
sunshine
from both sides
then I've been casting shadows

Caress the numbers
with trembling digits
fumbling for the snooze
to sleep again
and remember you

Graveyards of ideas
never embraced
and six feet of regret
that yearns to
thrust itself upward

like the daisies.

Enchanted Rock!

 Hello Earthlings,

Last Friday evening, Munkee and I drove out to Fredricksburg, Texas to go camping at Enchanted Rock. It was awesome. Do you like Munkee's doggie backpack? She hiked in her own food and water.
I just bought some new gear. This Marmot tent is awesome! Really easy to set up and really light.

Enchanted Rock is a huge mound of pure pink granite
rising from the Earth like a huge zit.

It was beautiful and the weather was perfect.

I also bought a new hammock. It's made by Eno and it's the only way to camp. Munkee and I did some napping in it. It rolls up into an attached bag when you're done with it.

"Can we take a break?" I just pulled a couple of
cactus needles out of her paws. I just went to the REI website and ordered her some doggie hiking boots. Yep. They make those.

 Lots of big rocks.....

There's a lot more I could say, but I'm lazy tonight. I just wanted to throw some pictures up. Goodnight.

New Toys for Camping Season

I'm getting super stoked about this Fall, and for those of you who don't know what super stoked means, it's the same thing as, like, when you space-jam your slam-piece into a pile of uber-amped pumptitude causing it to splode all orgasmically and stuff. So yeah, I'm liking this weather a lot.

So much, in fact, that I'm getting rid of a bunch of old camping equipment and buying some new gear tonight. My friends, Jon and Haley, gave me an awesome birthday present that inspired me go on this camping spree.

Now, I've seen these before, but never with as many features as this one. It's a hand powered flashlight/weather radio but THIS one can charge any USB or mini USB device with just a couple of minutes of cranking! Also, it has an audio in/out, so you can charge your iPhone and play songs through it FOREVER, as long as your arm works.

Now, for a new swanky tent, one built for two. No more lugging around that outdated mini-city I've been hiking around with for years. This Marmot Limelight 3 is a superior tent. Light-weight and durable. Perfect for hiking and sleeps two comfortably... Now to find a girlfriend. Ha!

Also, a hammock is a must-have to sleep in on those cool, perfect nights. Well, when the skeeters aren't being dicks.

Anyways, Munkee and I are gonna skip town tomorrow night and go out to Enchanted Rock in Fredricksburg to break in the gear. We'll probably do some mushrooms and run around the trails like little animals. Maybe I'll hold off on Munkee's dose, as she already is a little animal. Then we'll relax and write some songs.. Ahh...

Here's where we're going...  God's country! Texas!

Dumpsta Munkee's Frisbee Obsession

Ok, so I figured I'd follow up that last synchronicity post with something more entertaining. Although, I must say, right before the video at bottom of this post was made, Munkee tore into the kitchen garbage can while I was at work and scattered rank remnants all over the house...

I was mad for a second but I realized it was pointless and that she only did it because she was bored and she wanted my attention. So, I took her to the park to burn off some energy. After a few throws of the "frizz frizz", I noticed a brightly colored object in the woods by the park.
Further investigation revealed a treasure trove of Munkee's favorite objects. Frisbees...

The universe works in mysterious ways... I forgave her, stopped being mad, and enjoyed the day. And we were rewarded. Anyways... She's so talented. I didn't teach her how to do this. She taught me.

Thanks!

Hello World,
I don't ramble much about meta-physics and spiritualism, but tonight I figured I'd break back into this blog with a couple of thoughts on feeling better.

Yesterday, a few things happened that would have normally ruined my day. My tool trailer popped off the hitch while I was driving and crashed to the ground and right into the back of my truck. It was bizarre, because my business partner was actually talking about how hard it was to hook up the trailer exactly at the same time it happened. Then, when I exited the truck in a panic, I broke my brand new iphone! Only hours before, when we were working on a commercial job, (which was at night because we had to wait for the businesses to close) I mentioned  a "what if" scenario where a gang of drunken teenagers whipped into the parking lot and wanted to fight us. I mean, it's Georgetown, TX. I was joking, but not ONE minute later a car pulled up to the light and three crazed kids started screaming "Fuck you!!" at us like they were ready to brawl. We both looked at each other in amazement. It reminded me of many other synchronicities that have happened in my life, and most of them were really great experiences, not crazy unpleasant ones. Nonetheless, these bizarre events reminded me that the Universe is swirling around us at all times and we play a major role in creating and changing our surroundings with our desires. Everyone is constantly creating and we're all basically made of the same stuff so it could be said that we're all just one big person, right? We're surrounded by these types of events constantly because we all want the same things in life. You know, at a base level. They occur over and over again throughout time, and can be used as a map to enlightenment. Think of what we could do if we all had the same dream and manifested it simultaneously via "The Mind at Large" or the "Collective Unconcious"! The most important thing we can do to access and start noticing more of these phenomenas is to smile and say thank you. For having the opportunity to create, manifest, help others, and live.

Gratitude brings bliss.. I wrote a song a while back about remembering that we should always give thanks for what we have because it elevates us to a higher vibrational state and allows us to recognize the crazy synchronicities in our lives that serve to guide and enlighten us. Plus, it just feels good. I think that if thanking someone doesn't make you smile or at least feel a tinge of happiness, you probably don't mean it. Anyways, once we start recognizing these synchronicities, they start happening more frequently. How do I know? I've seen 'em. Throughout my life, I've been through phases where I've started seeing 11:11, 1111, 111, etc. multiple times a day. So much so, that I did some research and found that it was a worldwide phenomena, happening to millions of people. Now, it might seem crazy, but there are some that say that a group of 1,111 Spirit Guardians, often called "Midwayers," have been assisting folks of all walks of life for many centuries. They help to awaken people's minds and steer the evolution of mankind. I find all of this fascinating. Click the 11:11 button below when you get a chance and are up for journey. Just knowing about it might help you take notice, or at least make for an interesting read.

Anyways, I promise the next post will be about dogs, food, and maybe a song!
